Glitter and Fog

*at Rainbow Haven Beach

My life in the last few days, painting glitter nails, sharp and bright against the landscape of fog that erases the edges of my world.

Feminine Touches

Garlands are everywhere these days, in the form of wreathes, with or without Christmas lights even as jewellery.  This is mine, made from shear ivory fabric and touches of black eyelet ribbon tied onto twine to maintain a contrasting rustic yet elegant look...and I made it...

Full Steam Ahead

Last night my husband referred to me as his artist wife...this gave me a pause.  One, because after almost eleven years together we still are prone to giggles that we recently legally wed.  And two, because to me, artist, is a very big word.  Like many people the concept of artist and/or artist as a living is an oxymoron.  I have no problem saying that I've started crafting, but ART.  At very least it's prompted me to blog about some of the things I have been making lately.  My photo's are primarily taken with my blackberry and our home is still a very limiting rental until we make some decisions.

So, I made this (and I'm even posting a picture of me, eek).  I literally cut out each petal, burnt it to a shape I liked and hand stitched them together and wired them onto a headband....

Girl Crush

I've resisted this girl blogger for quite some time.  Flip Flopping between I have nothing in common with her, to wow I could have written/said this, while reading, continually being pulled back to re-read her blog...I think the clincher for me was a teeny little quote at the bottom of a page  ...AND THERE WAS A NEW VOICE WHICH YOU SLOWLY RECOGNIZED AS YOUR OWN,
THAT KEPT YOU COMPANY AS YOU STRODE DEEPER AND DEEPER INTO THE WORLD,
DETERMINED TO DO / THE ONLY THING YOU COULD DO - DETERMINED TO SAVE / THE ONLY LIFE YOU COULD SAVE ~ MARY OLIVER

Letting It All Hang Out

O.k maybe not so much, this is more of a putting it out there deal...First of all the lovely ring above keeps popping up for me so I thought I'd better heed the call and post it.  Lovely little thing that it is...maybe just confirmation to the fairytale dinner/cocktail rings I'm going to sell!

* post script to add the fox really is popping up a lot...just finished 'The Painted Boy' by Charles De Lint and it referenced the fox as an animal person/spirit, then reading a blog I enjoy The Fox, as a book comes up...somethings up for sure...

Seaweed Bath

* image found here

I first read about making your own seaweed bath from 'Nova Scotia Guide to Frugal Living' here.  As a fan of natural, frugal, old world beauty treatments that embraces the culture you live in (also cruelty free).  All I had to do was a quick Google search to be convinced that this was a great way to naturally detoxify.

I Love Green Tea

*images found here and here respectively.
I must confess that just a few years back I was probably more likely to eat a green tea flavoured Kit Kat than enjoy the 2-6 cups of green tea I now drink daily.  Recently I learned a little beauty trick that I'm really enjoying, brew green tea, set in the fridge to store and use as a face toner after washing my skin.  At worse it's a harmless way to wake up my skin at best it will have positive benefits for my rosacea.

Inspiration Board

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  I don't want to sign into and/or create a zillion new accounts, I don't want Photoshop nor do I want to re install Facebook or the zillion other social networking options...I do however want to create a basic online inspiration board periodically of my thoughts.  For example, I'm super excited that my wedding plans seem to be leading us down the east coast to Florida on a path that will hit several items on my Bucket List i.e. pizza in New York City, Salem and Savannah Ghost tours etc etc...sigh in the meantime, with my first and hopefully last sunburn of the season I'm dreaming of soft things today, courtesy of 'We Heart It'...

No Plastic Wasteland Here

It is always a pleasure to see companies creating decor for children that are not a bright primary plastic colour. I grew up in horror when I visited homes with rickety, peeling metal swing sets and such...yes the choices at Dimples and Dandelions are pricer, but there are many DIY opportunities available.

Sweet Paul

Clear glass ornaments filled with things is something I've seen around a lot lately...

and quite frankly I’ve found them to be a little too home jobish…but this, I don’t know if it’s the cohesive colour theme, the joyful beribboned collection or what but this I like…the feathers as a vegetarian not so much but there are many sparkly things that would work, perhaps even keep it up with seasonal changes. Thanks to Sweet Paul found here for inspiring.

Incredible image found here

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh it's a wall or a curtain garland, it's magical and I'm so going to craft this DIY...(smaller to please the other members of this house...

I remember seeing on Martha Stewart (can’t find it now of course) a DIY garland that used round sticky labels, colour them (there’s gold and silver pens in our dollar store right now) and then stick them together about 2 inches apart along a string of some sort...sounds like a good start to me...
