Happy Birthday Canada

I, like many Canadians, have a 'laundry' list of why I love Canada.  Today, for Canada's birthday I'll list one, this man Shane Koyczan, and his talent.  God Bless Canada, God Bless us all!

Full Steam Ahead

Last night my husband referred to me as his artist wife...this gave me a pause.  One, because after almost eleven years together we still are prone to giggles that we recently legally wed.  And two, because to me, artist, is a very big word.  Like many people the concept of artist and/or artist as a living is an oxymoron.  I have no problem saying that I've started crafting, but ART.  At very least it's prompted me to blog about some of the things I have been making lately.  My photo's are primarily taken with my blackberry and our home is still a very limiting rental until we make some decisions.

So, I made this (and I'm even posting a picture of me, eek).  I literally cut out each petal, burnt it to a shape I liked and hand stitched them together and wired them onto a headband....

My Smiles...

So this is my brain on sinus medication...I gotta say as disjointed as it is, it's filled with great stuff like this yummy Almond/Coconut Egyptian style cake I bought at the market this morning, really, so moist it was hard to pick up, it made me smile.
John Cusack always makes me smile, always.
My cat thinks he can fit in my bag of goodies from the market...homecoming trinkets (3 more sleeps, I'm all teary thinking about it)!!! He makes me smile.

But before I wonder at my cats intelligence or lack thereof I always remember my husbands cat, Ally, is very 'special'...she sat looking at that Q-tip for a very long time.  She makes me laugh.

I love my Earl, I am hugging him, it's just hard to tell because his eyes are closed and he's a black cat...

As excited as I am to see my friends and family for a brief time, explore the Big Smoke, hang upside down on roller coasters, stuff myself full of Injera b Wot and fill myself up with all sorts of hugs, love and girlfriend/dad time I know I'll be happy to return to my new home by the sea.  My husband and the laid back people of the East make my life very good....Oh yes, and a mini shout out to a Halifamous blogger I finally said hello to, Shelagh, she needs to write a tour guide for the area.  I know much of what a know about these parts thanks to her blog!

Taste Test on Etsy

Etsy Taste Test is a game of chance, and an accurate one at that.  Click on the images you like (don't like any shown, simply spin again) and end up with a fairly extensive list of new items/shops to explore...the above are some of my favourites from my most recent spin.

Kitty in all her fat adorableness.  Name yer Poison makes me wanna sidle up to the nearest cafe and the little bird ring was once a steel stamp in it's previous life...I do love new uses for things and people, re purposing ourselves is seldom painless but often necessary.

Here's To The Good Stuff

Life is still full of colour! Yes, even in January.  Flipping through this month's Oprah I found many nifty little things, bits of celebration in the world...so to all the cop killers, animal abusers (heck just plain abusers, and yes I'm pointing fingers here), negative, bitter, dull, jealous people out there I say screw you.  Yup, we all have temporary lapses.  I have my curl up in bed with a book, cuppa hot cocoa leave me be days. I have had and will have unspeakable horrors in life.  I am not Pollyanna but I refuse to live my life, my one kick at the can, frozen by the monsters others let out of the closet. xo

To my youngish readers, you know who I mean, close your eyes to the inappropriate words.
The good stuff in order as shown;
1.  Inside Out Hearts by Yedi houswares...mmm drinking hearts, how Alice.
2.  Diane-von-Furstenberg-Housewares-Collection here's to not matching!
3.  Gimbal's Honey Candies not only pretty but some of the monies goes to saving the Honey Bee
4.  Learning To Love You More and sample image was a phenomenally simple exercise...report on an via text, photo, video whatever an assignment such as 'take a flash photo under your bed'...one result...

G L I T T E R

It is no secret how I feel about glitter, it is good.  It is very good.  It is a reminder of the stars, that we are stardust, of fallen stars, of heaven above and magic below...but I don't eat it, intentionally.  But edible stars, pictured here in gold, o oh my.

Dale Frank Ice Age, 2010

* image collection found here

Aside from this being such a beautiful technique, the descriptions...!

"Envy, envy, she was saying seemingly to herself, as she entered from out of the darkness of the adjoining room carrying unopened plastic wine glasses. He took a few steps towards the bowl where the carton usually lay momentarily forgetting he had decided to give them up two days earlier"

and

"Dinner was rather ?matter of fact?, simple, nothing to embellish, or nothing to rationalise or distract from the reason for being there. A bucket and hose could do just as well to describe the dinner, and as well, do as a fine description for the hosts and the company"

Loving the Flock of Bird Motifs...

I don't know why I keep seeing these bird images, a trend right now or an omen....either way I NEED this case from this Etsy seller blueburnice
